The Ripley Family Turf Field & Stormwater Management System

Trinity’s excellent extra-curricular activities are part of what distinguishes it from other schools in New Orleans and encourages students to remain physically active. Trinity’s field provides crucial recreational and athletic space for many of these experiences, from daily recess to the annual Trinity Olympics to interscholastic lacrosse contests. In August 2021, construction began on a new 60-yard-wide x 30-yard-wide soccer, lacrosse, and all-purpose synthetic turf field in place of the old grass athletic field on Trinity's campus. The athletic field was turned 90 degrees from its current orientation, and expanded to provide more opportunities for hosting athletic competitions on campus.

It was resurfaced to include new, artificial turf, which allows for the field to be used during rainy weather, minimizing downtime and accommodating additional practice and recreational time for students. It also provides a highly functional space for Church and School events that will welcome visitors from the greater community to campus.

As a part of the Campus Master Plan, Trinity also committed to the installation of a stormwater management system for the entire campus to address crucial environmental problems in our neighborhood and help the City’s current drainage systems with water retention and flooding issues. Trinity students enjoyed an in-person, hands-on educational experience where they discussed stormwater runoff and retention and learned about the turf installation process.

On January 6, 2023, the Capital Campaign Committee, along with the entire Trinity Church and School community, was delighted to honor the Ripley Family with a field dedication and blessing as a thanks for their generous donation to name the new field.

The Ripley Family

Overall Campaign Goal: $13 million

Trinity’s Capital Campaign encompasses seven distinct, but related, capital projects. The projects have been selected for inclusion in this campaign based on their high priority in preparing a foundational space for current and new programs, their importance in attracting families to both the Church and School, and their place in the sequencing of future campus renovations and additions.
